Welcome from Principal

Established in 1983, Taminmin College provides an exciting learning environment providing flexible pathways for our students. The College provides comprehensive education from years 7 to 12 and includes a Vocational Education and Training (VET) section. Taminmin also is the only school in the Northern Territory with an agricultural facility. Taminmin College provides success for all students with a range of pathways to access employment and higher education.

The school mission is “Inspiring Learning, Empowering Futures, Education for Life “ which aligns with the core purpose; to nurture, inspire, and prepare young people to REACH for possibilities and seize opportunities that enable them to positively contribute to their community, society, and the world.

The school values are encompassed in the acronym REACH. R – respect, E – effort towards excellence, A – achieve your goals, C – caring community and H – honesty.

Students of high academic potential can experience enrichment, extension and challenge across core learning areas in the High Achiever Leading Learner program. Support is provided for students to work towards age-appropriate standards in their learning. The Sports Academy offers specialised education in practical and theoretical aspects of a range of sports for students of high physical ability. Students in years 5 and 6 in the local area may apply for the Young Scholar program.

Students in the senior secondary years have a number of pathways to choose from. These include academic, and a Transition to Work program which provides pathways to training and employment with built in flexibility to achieve success. The High Achiever Centre for Excellence program flows on from the High Achiever programs from 7 to 9 for students of high academic ability from years 10 to 12.

Common year level pastoral care programs and full uniform contribute to a safe but orderly environment for learning.

A 75 ha mixed produce farm gives students opportunities for learning in aquaculture, horticulture and agriculture. Taminmin College is set in expansive grounds and is a short distance from Humpty Doo township.
