About

Established in 1983, Taminmin College is an independent public school, set in expansive grounds a short distance from the Humpty Doo Township. The College provides comprehensive education from years 7 to 12 and includes a Vocational Education and Training (VET) section. Taminmin College is the only school in the Northern Territory with an agricultural facility. Providing an exciting learning environment for all students with a range of pathways to access employment and higher education.

Taminmin College acknowledges with respect, the past and present traditional owners of this land, the Limilngan (Limingun) and Wulna people.

Our Colleges’ name ‘Taminmin’ is derived from the word ‘Daminmin’ which is part of the ‘Dreamtime Story’ of the (Limilngan) Limingun and Wulna language groups.

‘Daminmin’ means (Luderi) turtle place. This place is situated near Humpty Doo Station, and is the resting place of the creators known as the ‘Travelling Women’ to the Limilingan (Limingun) and Wulna people. With this knowledge from the local people of the Adelaide River and Fogg Dam areas, this story has been handed down from generation to generation.
