The Taminmin Centre for Excellence aims to align school, higher education and industry sector resources and expertise to deliver academic, career and leadership opportunities for students.

It will provide differentiated learning opportunities for high ability students that aspire to a pathway in higher education. Students will have a passion for learning and aspire to be potential leaders in their field.

The program promotes the development of independent learning skills that are critical to success in higher education and future employment.

The program provides opportunities for extension, enrichment and acceleration in learning.

  • Extension or advanced learning challenges students by providing them with opportunities to work with more difficult concepts or processes in a challenging and innovative curriculum.
  • Enrichment activities offer students unique learning opportunities to stimulate their thinking. Often it involves learning in different ways or in different settings and includes extra-curricular activities, for example, seminars, internships and working with mentors.
  • Acceleration in learning occurs when students have opportunities to undertake courses at a higher level than their age/grade cohort.  For example, university courses while still at school or Year 10 students may have the opportunity to enrol in Stage 1 (Year 11) course(s).
