The College continues to work hard to deliver a range of school to work transition programs for students who do not wish to follow the academic stream. Senior School students are offered a range of Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) programs designed to give students the opportunity to try a profession while still at school. VET studies at school contribute towards achieving their Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET).
By participating in VET programs, students learn about the skills and requirements of a particular job at school or through a local registered training provider, and can complete a number of work placements during the year. The Workready Program is a school to work transition program that aims to assist and encourage suitable Year 11 and 12 school students to take part in structured Vocational Education and Training (VET) that leads to school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, and hopefully, to an ongoing apprenticeship or traineeship.
School-based apprenticeships and traineeships aim to provide students with an increased ability to perform in the workplace, leading to increased career choices and opportunities to transition from school to full time apprenticeships, employment or further education and training and giving interested students the opportunity to participate in the workplace and in an industry in which they are interested.
